You are cordially invited to our second annual celebration of Pride. To celebrate LGBTQIA Pride season a group of thoughtful citizens (queer and straight) have banded together to create Pride in the Park.
This event is a celebration and validation of our local Appalachian LGBTQIA and allies population. We lack the means and support to create a traditional Pride celebration so we imagined something a little more novel. Playing off the understanding of what family means to queer folks and our shared history of good old fashioned family reunions we’ve opted to create a Pride centric cookout. We’ve secured a shelter at Breaks Interstate Park (this event IS NOT sponsored by or affiliated with the park) to hold our gathering. Our hope is that you will join us and share space with like minded folks who are looking for a few hours of joy and mild revelry. We will be providing typical cookout fare (burgers, hot dogs, pulled pork, etc.) and will post a finalized menu closer to the event. Folks with dietary restrictions and allergies are encouraged to reach out to planning committee members and let us know how we can accommodate them. Heck, maybe you can share a much loved recipe with us! We will have music for anyone who wants to shimmy and shake.
